4 1/2 months

Lindsey is 4 1/2 months old now. She is a very happy baby unless she is hungry or tired. She is much more predictable in her schedule so it is easy to keep her happy! She loves to face out when you hold her, hold and suck on her toys, play in her excersaucer, smile and babble, and her new favorite thing is eating rice cereal! She loves to smile at her sisters and suck her thumb! We are so thankful for our baby girl.

3 months old

Our little Lindsey is three months old. She loves to smile and look at her toys, has started sucking her thumb (our only baby to do this so far!), has her first cold, and regularly sleeps all night. She is such a sweet girl.

10 weeks old

Forgot to post pictures of Lindsey at 2 months…so here they are!

img_3417img_3534img_3710img_3716Lindsey continues to be a good baby. She is starting to take longer naps during the day, has an earlier bedtime (7!) and sometimes sleeps all night. She loves to smile at us and coo and talk. She loves looking at her sisters! She is now 10 weeks old and seems a regular part of our family. We feel very blessed for such a sweet girl.

Natalie turns 6!

img_3506Natalie turned six years on old on Friday, January 16. It is hard to believe that six years has gone by. It seems like just yesterday! She ended up not having school on her birthday because it was so cold. I thought she might be disappointed to not celebrate at school, but instead she loved being home with her sisters! We had a family party that night and then on Saturday she had her friend party. She really really wanted a roller skating party..so that is what we did. It was absolute chaos at the rink, but she had a great time and so did all her friends. Enjoy a few shots of our birthday girl.

our answer to prayer

Nate and I have prayed many things for our three daughters. At the top of the list is that they would love the Lord and trust Him as their Savior. It has been neat to hear them retell Bible stories from church or ask us questions about Jesus, Heaven, etc.

Yesterday Natalie and I were working on her memory verse for Awana. It was “Jesus answered, ‘I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.’” Natalie was interested in what this verse meant so we talked about how the only way we can get to heaven and be with God is if we truly believe that he died on the cross for our sins and we are forgiven.

Amy overheard us and said, “I want to go to heaven, I don’t want to go to that fire place.” Nate explained that Mommy and Daddy were going to go to heaven one day. Natalie wanted to know how we were sure. So we explained that we believe that Jesus is our Savior and that he died for our sins. She says, “I believe that!” Nate asked her if she had ever told God that she believed that about him. She said she didn’t and wanted to know how to tell him so Nate explained that when we pray we are talking with God.

Natalie bowed her sweet head and prayed (from my memory!), “God, thank you for sending Jesus as a baby. I believe that he died on the cross for my sins and I am forgiven. I love you. In Jesus name, Amen.”

What a blessing to hear our firstborn daughter profess her love for Jesus. We will continue to pray for her heart and that she would desire to know and love him more.

One month old

img_2056img_2212img_2399img_2532img_2584It’s hard to believe that our sweet Lindsey has been with us for a month now! She is such a wonderful gift to our family. Natalie and Amy love to hug and kiss her and hold her. They also enjoy being my little helpers. Natalie takes pride in throwing away all the dirty diapers and Amy enjoys helping at bath time.

Lindsey has seemed to fit right into our family life. She has even allowed Nate and I to continue our December tradition of watching all three extended versions of the Lord of the Rings trilogy…not all in one night! I usually fall asleep by 9:30 so we watch them in short segments. :) She has been great about being carted all over town taking her older sisters to their activities…although she doesn’t like the carseat. She is a wonderful sleeper…usually allowing Mommy at least one 6 hour block of sleep at night.  She has also stayed healthy the past 2 weeks while Natalie had Strep throat, Amy had the stomach flu, and Amy, Mommy, and Daddy had colds. My poor winter babies are introduced to all sorts of illness at a young age.

We look forward to celebrating our first Christmas with Lindsey as a family of five. Hope you enjoy these pictures taken the past few weeks. The last one of her in the chair is taken today…I take pictures of each girl in that chair every month until they are one year old. It is neat to see how much they change and grow.

our little yellow glowworm

img_1881img_1872On Monday, Lindsey had her fist doctor’s appointment. Nate and I noticed she was starting to turn yellow, but our other girls did as well and it never turned into anything. Well, the doctor had me to go the hospital for a Bilirubiin test. We got home and settled and the hospital called us and told us to return immediately to have her admitted for phototherapy. Apparently they want her levels to be between 11-12 and hers was 21. It was scary to know there was to be immediate action…even though we knew she was going to be okay.

So, Lindsey and Mommy spent 24 hours back at the hospital. She was under a blue light for 12 of the hours. Once her levels started to lower, they just had the light on her back (as you see from pictures). Thankfully we were sent home after 24 hours with the light for her back.

She has another blood test today and her levels are 11.5…which is what we were aiming for. We are so thankful she is okay and that she responded well to the therapy. Our prayer is that the jaundice won’t return.

Other than this predicament, Lindsey has been a very easy going baby so far…as long as she is fed and allowed to sleep! The girls LOVE having her at home and want to help me in any way we can. Nate and I are so thankful for the gift of our 3 daughters.

Lindsey May

Lindsey May arrived at 6:35 pm at 8 lbs 14 oz and 20.5 inches long. Everyone seems well, they are checking blood to make sure both Kara and Lindsey are healthy. What a long day, after 11 hours of being here, 10 in labor, all of a sudden Lindsey dropped and Kara pushed for 10 minutes. We are quietly resting after family and several friends were here to celebrate with us. More to come tomorrow we are sure.

waiting for baby

I am due Nov. 26, but am scheduled to be induced Nov. 19. Thank you, Lord! This baby is going to be another whopper and I just can’t carry her around anymore. Everything aches. I have had tons of painful contractions…leading me to believe I may go earlier…but then they stop.

So, we are READY for our baby girl to get here. Everything is washed and put in it’s place. Nate has worked very hard to get projects done around the house that he wasn’t able to do the 6 months he was studying…his “nesting” is much more productive than mine!

So…keep us in your prayers as we wait to meet our little one in less than a week!
