our little yellow glowworm

img_1881img_1872On Monday, Lindsey had her fist doctor’s appointment. Nate and I noticed she was starting to turn yellow, but our other girls did as well and it never turned into anything. Well, the doctor had me to go the hospital for a Bilirubiin test. We got home and settled and the hospital called us and told us to return immediately to have her admitted for phototherapy. Apparently they want her levels to be between 11-12 and hers was 21. It was scary to know there was to be immediate action…even though we knew she was going to be okay.

So, Lindsey and Mommy spent 24 hours back at the hospital. She was under a blue light for 12 of the hours. Once her levels started to lower, they just had the light on her back (as you see from pictures). Thankfully we were sent home after 24 hours with the light for her back.

She has another blood test today and her levels are 11.5…which is what we were aiming for. We are so thankful she is okay and that she responded well to the therapy. Our prayer is that the jaundice won’t return.

Other than this predicament, Lindsey has been a very easy going baby so far…as long as she is fed and allowed to sleep! The girls LOVE having her at home and want to help me in any way we can. Nate and I are so thankful for the gift of our 3 daughters.

Nap Time

We are back home, mom and baby are napping. It was an expected night last night: a little feeding, a few hours of holding and entertaining and a little bit of sleep as well. Kara’s mom was here last night which was a huge help, what a blessing she has been to come over, watch the kids, clean, organize, and even re-decorate a little!

I love Gail, not just because she and I are wired very much alike. We are task people, we like checking off stuff, like cleaning, like stream-lining processes and so much more. We laugh with one another that we are not Veermans, that we are the outlaws. I love her because of her resolve, her servant’s heart, her desire to minister to others especially her family. She is a defender and protector, she desires wonderful things for her family and her friends. I am so thankful for her presence here for the oldest kids and for Kara in particular. She is a strength and support to us.

Lindsey May

Lindsey May arrived at 6:35 pm at 8 lbs 14 oz and 20.5 inches long. Everyone seems well, they are checking blood to make sure both Kara and Lindsey are healthy. What a long day, after 11 hours of being here, 10 in labor, all of a sudden Lindsey dropped and Kara pushed for 10 minutes. We are quietly resting after family and several friends were here to celebrate with us. More to come tomorrow we are sure.

waiting for baby

I am due Nov. 26, but am scheduled to be induced Nov. 19. Thank you, Lord! This baby is going to be another whopper and I just can’t carry her around anymore. Everything aches. I have had tons of painful contractions…leading me to believe I may go earlier…but then they stop.

So, we are READY for our baby girl to get here. Everything is washed and put in it’s place. Nate has worked very hard to get projects done around the house that he wasn’t able to do the 6 months he was studying…his “nesting” is much more productive than mine!

So…keep us in your prayers as we wait to meet our little one in less than a week!

Our full weekend

We had a very full weekend! It started Halloween with lots of trick-or-treating. Amy dressed up as Ariel and Natalie dressed up as Sleeping Beauty. They had a great time and we had perfect weather. I can’t remember the last Halloween where I didnt’ have to wear a coat! I enjoyed this night as a family…but not the many contractions I had from all the walking.

On Saturday, Nate had his Ordination/Installation service at our church. It was an amazing ceremony…very emotional. Two former pastors from our church, who are good friends with Nate, flew out to be a part of the service. I am so proud of Nate and all his hard work. I know God has called him to this position for a reason and we are looking forward to how God is going to use our family. He is offcially an Associate Pastor and our church and you can call him Reverend Conrad!

On Sunday, we celebrate our sweet Amy’s FOURTH birthday! She was so excited that it was her special day. She went up to as many people as she could at church to tell them that she was FOUR now. This afternoon we are having her friend birthday party. I’ll post pictures and share more about our 4 year old later…
