Our Furnace

The furnace… yeah, it has been cycling and not actually heating the home, I have to come downstairs in turn it off at the switch on the furnace itself, wait, then restart it.  We’ve never had it serviced or cleaned, so he cleaned it, wiped it down, check the gas pressure, exchange, pilot, and flame detector… seems to be better, $90 later… but a pro did it and he checked the stuff that I/we could not.

The thing would turn off in the middle of the night and it would be about 56 degrees (or lower in the dead of winter) throughout the home.  I got nervous, and tired, of having to go down there and reset it all the time.  I was worried about the kids, the safety of the furnace, and my own sanity of another winter having to do this about 3-4 times per week.  Worth the $90 I think.  I hope.

So far, so good.  We’ve have some cool nights and the furnace has been fine, I have not heard it cycle at all, so the safety and comfort I think has been worth the $90.

Evening Prayers

I was putting the kids to bed this evening, Kara was at some meeting… we read the story of the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem and the angels’ announcement to the shepherds.

I went in to pray with Amy.  I prayed first, then she prayed,

"Dear Jesus, thank you for daddy and for mommy, and for daddy and for me and for daddy, and for God and for the shepherds and for daddy and for flying babies, and for Jesus and for mommy and for Natalie Beth Conrad, and for me.  In Jesus name, Amen."

flying babies …not sure what to do with that…  –Nate

Kara’s Cropping

I am home with the kids this weekend, it is really nice.  I like being able to give Kara some time away from the kids to be with her friends… she takes some time every few months to crop, doing Creative Memories.  I like it when she comes back with all the new pages having captured the time that we spend with the kids and our families.

The girls were great tonight, very sweet, very kind, speaking to each other kindly, sharing, talking respectfully… one of the good days, you know?! :)

Nothing significant happening here obviously.

Amy’s Birthday

Img_4178s_2

Today was Amy’s birthday!  She’s three now, old, I know… I can hardly believe I am a man who is a husband, a father of two kids who are three and almost five!  CRAZY!!!!

We got to celebrate with Amy yesterday and with 12-16 of her closest buds over at a “moon-jump” sort of place… I’m a dude, seriously, I am supposed to know what those are called?!

Here is one of the photos, more are posted at left in the photo directories.  Clearly Amy was having a ball!
