We took some kayaks out and hit one of the rivers today leading into Hanalei Bay. It was nice, but not worth the price we paid for the kayak time and the snorkeling (we used our own gear anyway).
We had more rain showers today than other days this week, but that is okay… We look at each other and we look Hawaiian we are so dark. The time in the sun has been fantastic.
Unbelievable beauty. We are back from our Na Pali Coast Sunset Boat Tour from 2-7 pm today. We both highly recommend it for anyone coming to Kauai.
I took so many pictures, we will have a lot to sort through and delete when we get back home.
Kara did great. She said she did not feel sick at all! We were so thankful, after much prayer and many drugs!
After the ATV tour we went to southside Poipu Beach (yes, you read that correctly)…this is who crawled up on the beach to sun himself…
We did the off-road tour of southern Kaua’i today.
Kara did a great job on the quad. It was fun to watch her open it up and throtttle the thing through dust, mud, and streams. We got to see a few movie sites along the way and had a great time with the guides.

It was a nice, inexpensive day today… We did a vigorous, difficult 8 mile hike (4 miles in, 4 miles out) to a large waterfall, where we stopped for a long lunch, in the core of the Na Pali Coast. It was a wet, rocky, guava strewn path. Very worth it!

Afterward we were both exhausted and made a stop for Bubba Burgers and shaved ice. We are very tired that is for sure.

It has been great here. We are really enjoying our time together. Kaua’i is an incredible place. We’ve been out to eat, to two beaches, and reef snorkeling so far. We have hiking and more snorkeling tomorrow, an ATV tour, kayaking, the waimea canyon, and a katamaran dinner cruise yet to come.
Nate and I are off to Kauai, Hawaii tomorrow morning for a full week of rest! We are celebrating our 10th anniversary a little early (our 10th is next summer). We are very excited to have this time together and in such a beautiful place. I am also looking forward to reading…the 9 hour plane ride will help that. :) We will miss the girls tremendously, but know that these times of refreshment are important in our marriage. We pray for a safe return to our girls. They should have a fun week with Grammy and Papa! I’m sure we’ll post lots and lots of pictures when we return.
I came home yesterday and was kind of tired, the good kind of tired, like I had done something worthy of rest. I came home to be with the family for a little bit.
Amy invited me to sit on the couch with her and to lay my head in her lap. She proceeded to lightly rub my head and neck while I rested my eyes and while she watch Dora. She sat up and kissed me on the forehead and said, "I love you, Daddy."
