Happy Birthday to me!

Img_1131 Today is my 32nd birthday! Not much to report…Nate is at work and then going to a Cubs game and the girls have been crabby on and off today. We were getting ready this morning and as I was putting on my gym shorts, Natalie says, "Mom, you can’t exercise on your birthday!" Not sure how she knows this isn’t necessarily a pleasant thing to do, but I assured her that it was what Mommy wanted to do and that I would need it to eat dessert tonight! Going out to dinner with my parents, the girls, and Dana tonight. Then tomorrow night Nate and I are going out on date…just dinner and a movie, but that is all I want! Of course, I have been making good use of my camera which was my gift!

The picture is of my dear friend, Alysia, who had her 3rd girl yesterday…the day before my birthday! So close… Her name is Kiley and she is a DOLL.

Anyway…Happy birthday to me! :)

Kissa-dooolas

Img_1058Here we are having a nice dinner of nutri-grain bars, strawberries, milk, and quesadillas.  Natalie and Amy are making funny faces and noises and being silly with each other, which I am fine with since they are eating all the food they were given…

Natalie is trying to get Amy to say "quesadillas"… the conversation when something like this:

Natalie: "Amy, say, ‘quesadillas’."

Amy: "Kissa-dooolass!"

Natalie: "No, Amy, quesaDEEEEYAs!"

Amy: "Kissa-DOOOOODAs!", she says belly-laughing.

Natalie and I begin heartily laughing at Amy’s contorted face and her poor annunciation (or diction, which is it?).  Natalie tries again:

Natalie: "Amy, you say, kay-sa-DEEEEEEEYAs."

Amy: "Doodie-deeeeyas, doodie, dooola-ditas!"

Natalie and I can’t breathe we are laughing so hard.  Amy is laughing too, throwing her head back yelling:

Amy: "Pooopa-peeyas! (she says laughing hysterically) Poopiiiiies!  POOP!"

Amy: *BELCH*

Ah, pastor’s kids.  … herein lies an account of the messed up mind of a 2 1/2 year old, and how her dad thinks this is the funniest thing since college.  Life is good.  -Nate

No, Kara was not home for this.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Img_0598 I had a very nice Mother’s Day yesterday. We spent half the day with my family and the other half with Nate’s family. The girls were great…the highlights for them were picking Lilacs at Grammy’s and petting the ENORMOUS dog at Uncle Stann and Aunt Gloria’s.

I am so thankful for my mom. She is such an example to me of a godly woman. I really admire her relationship with God and with other women. She is such a loving and caring Grammy too and it is neat to see her interact with my girls. I know Nate is very thankful for his mom too!

I am also so thankful to BE a mom. My girls bring me so much joy…it is definitely filled with frustrations as well, but I wouldn’t trade being a mommy for anything. Thank you, Lord for the many blessings in my life.

An early birthday gift

Img_0236 My stupendous husband gave me my birthday (a few weeks early…and Mother’s Day) present yesterday. It is a Digital SLR camera! He got my parents, his parents, my sister, and all my friends to contribute and they gave it to me last night. I am super excited! I have been wanting this camera for years. Now I will have even better pictures to post on here! Yea, Nate! Thank you! (The picture of Natalie and Amy was taken with my new camera!)

Kara was in Key West!

Img_9808I got back Sunday from a 4 day vacation with 6 friends to Key West, Florida. We were celebrating my friend Jess’s 30th birthday. We had a nice relaxing time at the pool and beach…reading, soaking up the sun, and enjoying time together.

Once again, I am thankful for the deep friendships that I have. I am truly blessed. Pictures under "Key West".
