SingleTrack

Dsc02200A friend and I have taken to single track riding here in some of the local forest preserves… we are getting antsy to ride some of the longer, more intense trails that IL has to offer.  Right now, we are both just getting back into shape so we are sticking to the easier trails closest to hospitals.

I have been away from this for so long, my balance is not what it used to be, nor is my stamina, but I am better off than I thought I would be.  It makes me want a lighter, smaller frame bike, mine is a Trek hybrid from the early 90’s that weighs a ton and the frame is huge.  Oh well, one more thing I won’t be able to enjoy for a while.  We want to get Kara one as well, and a trailer for the kids… obviously not a part of this year’s riding season! – Nate

Natalie’s 1st Day of Preschool!

Img_4461 Img_4468 Today was Natalie’s first day of preschool. I didn’t cry, but my heart felt very tight! She is going to Little Munchkins which is in the basement of this women’s house. I know people who have been to this preschool and I was very impressed! I am so excited that Natalie will be with Mrs. Lewis the next 2 years. Natalie was very excited to go…especially to finally use her princess backpack. She promised she would be nice and kind, share her toys, and obey Mrs. Lewis. She looked so happy when I picked her up! It should be a good year!

[Update] see previous blog: Wedding Day – it’s a total tear-jerker for us dads with little girls.

Labor Day

Img_4399 We spent labor day in the Quad Cities with Nate’s family. It was a great day with family. We started out our day at a Labor Day parade that went right in front of John and Cindy’s (Nate’ sister) house. Cindy made a huge breakfast for everyone to enjoy. The girls loved the parade and the ENORMOUS amounts of candy!

Unfortunately, Natalie took a spill before the parade and scraped up her nose and mouth. It was a tramatic moment for her, but she was able to enjoy the parade and the rest of the day. After the parade, we spent the day with Nate’s parents and then headed back to Rock Island to see Derek play football! All in all it was a nice day. Pictures posted.
